We have discussed training before, today we are going to discuss e-mail protection options. Good e-mail protection add ons can either help your employees make educated decisions on an email’s threat level or completely take the decision out of their hands. The first solution we are going to discuss is email categorization solutions such as Inky, Vade, and others. These tools categorize email by threat level. Typically low, Warning, and Malicious. It typically does this with a color coded banner to let the user know.
The second type of protection is e-mail scanning such as Microsoft Defender, Barracuda or others. These solutions will actually scan email attachments and links before they are delivered to a user’s mailbox for malicious code. If there is a malicious attachment, it will remove it and links to malicious sites are blocked.
In this day and age with users receiving 100s of emails a day we need to help educate users and give them the right tools to make educated decisions and implement technologies to remove the most dangerous threats.
